Manufacturing
The German steel pipe manufacturer EEW Group is expanding its manufacturing plant in South Korea to meet the growing demand for offshore wind foundations.

The EEW KHPC facility in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do Province, currently produces foundation components with unit weights of up to 900 tonnes.
Once the expansion initiative is completed in the second half of 2027, the facility will be able to manufacture monopiles, pin piles, jacket components, and legs with diameters of up to 13 metres, unit weights of 2,500 tonnes, and lengths of up to 120 metres.
The site’s overall steel processing capacity will therefore increase from around 60,000 tonnes per year to over 200,000 tonnes.
“The development of the offshore wind industry in Southeast Asia will gain immense momentum over the next few years. With the expansion of EEW KHPC, we are responding early to growing market demands,” said Deok-Han Kim and Kwan-Gyu Tak, EEW KHPC’s managing directors.
The EEW Group has acquired additional production halls and land near its existing site to accommodate the increased capacity. The site’s port storage area will be enlarged too.
The German company, which operates another factory in Germany, expects the South Korean expansion plan to create around 200 new jobs.
