Floating wind

Buchan Offshore Wind has appointed Kent as Owner’s Engineer to drive their pioneering floating offshore wind farm project into its next phase of development.

The project progresses towards Front End Engineering Design (FEED), marking another step on the road to Final Investment Decision (FID) and construction by the end of the decade.

As the owner’s engineer, Kent’s Scotland team will play a key role in derisking the project, providing integrated technical and delivery expertise. The appointment also includes specialist support from Vekta Group and New Power Partners (NPP), further strengthening overall engineering capability.

Buchan Offshore Wind is at the forefront of industrialising the floating offshore wind sector in Scotland with the development of its near 1GW project 75 kilometres north east of Fraserburgh.

Once operational, the wind farm has the potential to generate enough secure, stable home grown energy to power more than one million homes, contributing significantly to the UK’s long-term energy and economic security.
