Wind Auction
Turkey has released the draft rules for a 1-GW offshore wind auction to be held this year.
The auction is part of a proposed framework targeting 5 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2035.
The draft specifications were published by the Energy Ministry on Monday to outline regulations for the YEKA OWPP-2026 tender that will award seabed rights and grid-connection capacity through a reverse bidding process. The competition will pave the way for the construction of the country’s first large-scale offshore wind park.
Developers in the call will compete for the right to use Renewable Energy Zones (YEKA) zones for 49 years and a 27-year revenue support. The ceiling price for the purchase of power has been set at USD 0.11 (EUR 0.09) per kWh, with a floor price at USD 0.07/kWh. If the floor price is quoted, bidders will compete through an additional contribution payment mechanism.
The winner will be responsible for conducting meteorological and oceanographic measurements and seabed investigations and will handle the entire project development, permitting, construction and operation.
The draft tender guidelines will be open for consultation until August 17.
