Cranes
Seatrium has acquired six Liebherr Ram Luffing cranes, RL 2600, for TenneT’s 2-gigawatt (GW) offshore wind transmission system in the Netherlands.
Two cranes will be allocated to each of the platforms IJmuiden Ver Beta, IJmuiden Ver Gamma and Nederwiek Beta. They will integrate the LiMain system to support remote maintenance on unmanned platforms.
The cranes of the RL series are known for their weight-optimised yet robust construction, which makes them especially suitable for offshore platforms. The RL 2600 was developed to meet the demanding conditions of offshore operations. Feedback from customers around the world played an important role in the design process, resulting in a very compact crane with a small tail radius and low overall height.
For TenneT’s project, the RL 2600 cranes will be fitted with the digital LiMain system to support maintenance on the unmanned platforms. This marks an important milestone for Liebherr, as an Asian partner has opted for LiMain for the first time.
The system enables key service tasks from shore, which reduces site visits and lowers both costs and environmental impact. Its remote and partly automated functions provide a high level of operational autonomy under demanding offshore conditions. LiMain follows a modular concept, so operators can choose the level of monitoring and maintenance support that fits each platform. This flexibility helps to ensure reliable and efficient crane operation, even in rough and challenging offshore environments.
