Wind Energy – Converter Platform

Earlier this month, COSCO Shipping completed the load-out of an offshore converter platform onto the 65,000 DWT semi-submersible vessel Xiang Tai Kou for the Qingzhou V & VII offshore wind project.

This week, the vessel departed Nantong to carry out the offshore installation of the topside using the DP2 float-over method.

The Qingzhou V & VII project features the world’s first 2GW offshore HVDC (High-Voltage Direct Current) transmission system.

Once operational, it is expected to generate approximately 7.7 billion kWh of clean electricity annually.
