Wind Energy – Inter Array Cables

SPIE Wind Connect has been awarded a contract by Seaway7 to terminate and test the inter-array cables for the Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 offshore wind farms in Poland.

SPIE Wind Connect will terminate and test the 66 kV inter-array cable network, which links wind turbine generators to offshore substations.

The company has confirmed that the main offshore campaign is expected to begin in Q2 2026.

Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 are located in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone in the south-western Baltic Sea, off the coast of northern Poland.

Each project is planned to have an installed capacity of around 720 MW, giving them a combined capacity of approximately 1.44 GW.

Each offshore wind farm comprises ten strings of five wind turbine generators, each connected to the offshore substation via 66 kV inter-array cables.

Within each string, the outermost turbine is connected using a 400 mm² inter-array cable, and then a 1000 mm² cable carries the total string power to the offshore substation.
