Samsung wins order for LNG Storage and Supply Vessel

Saturday, May 9 2026

General – LNG

Samsung Heavy Industries has received an order worth KRW 484.8 billion for one LNG-FSRU vessel equipped with a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) from a shipowner in the Asia region.

An LNG-FSRU is a vessel equipped with a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), often referred to as a ‘floating LNG terminal’. It is utilized in regions where energy demand is rapidly increasing or where it is difficult to construct onshore terminals.

Recently, as the need to establish energy infrastructure has grown due to increasing power demand driven by the expansion of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, FSRUs, which can be built in a short period, are gaining attention as a fast supply alternative.
