Wind Energy – Framework Agreements

German energy company EnBW has awarded framework agreements for subsea inspection services across its offshore wind portfolio in the Baltic and North Seas, reinforcing its long-term maintenance strategy for critical renewable infrastructure.

The contracts, finalized on 7 April and valued at more than €7.2 million, cover underwater inspections using remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).

According to information published on the EU tenders platform, RS Diving Contractor has been selected to carry out work across both maritime regions.

Under the agreements, RS Diving will conduct routine inspections at the Baltic Sea wind farms Baltic 1 and Baltic 2, as well as the North Sea installations Hohe See, Albatros, and He Dreiht.

The scope includes detailed visual and operational assessments of submerged support structures for turbines and offshore substations, in line with German regulatory standards and site-specific maintenance schedules.

Inspection cycles vary by site. At Baltic 1, all 21 turbines and the offshore substation will be examined every four years, with the next campaign scheduled for 2027.

Baltic 2 follows a staggered approach, with 20 turbines, representing 25% of the total, inspected annually, while its substation remains on a four-year rotation.

In the North Sea, Hohe See and Albatros will also see approximately a quarter of their turbines inspected each year, alongside four-year substation checks.

Meanwhile, He Dreiht, currently under construction, is set to adopt a similar inspection regime once operational, beginning with 16 turbines assessed annually on a 25% rotation basis.

Offshore activities are typically conducted between April and September each year. Beyond inspection duties, RS Diving will be responsible for vessel provision, logistics coordination, ROV deployment, and the delivery of inspection reports and documentation.

The framework agreements will run until 31 March 2031, with options to extend for up to three additional one-year periods, underscoring EnBW’s commitment to sustained operational reliability across its offshore wind assets.
