Wind Energy – Cable Installation

In Taiwan, Jan de Nul has loaded and installed two subsea, high-voltage export cables for the Fengmiao I offshore wind farm.

This marks an important step towards establishing the future connection between the wind farm and the onshore electricity grid.

The cables, which are 45 and 44 kilometres long and weigh more than eight thousand tonnes in total, have now been fully installed and are being stored underwater while we await the availability of the offshore substation jacket.

Having completed this phase, Jan de Nul will now bury the cables in the seabed using its trencher PT 1.

Jan de Nul used its cable laying vessel Willem de Vlamingh for transporting, installing, trenching, and protecting the cables.
