General – Meeting
TenneT CEO Manon van Beek recently attended an inspiring meeting at 10 Downing Street with Prime Ministers Keir Starmer and Rob Jetten.

A select group of energy leaders from the UK and the Netherlands came together to discuss shared energy challenges, such as supply security, rising costs and the urgent need for diversification.
Against this backdrop, the two countries are strengthening their cooperation, building on their existing strengths in offshore wind and carbon capture technology, while also exploring new opportunities in nuclear energy.
Ms van Beek was encouraged to see the 15-year-old BritNed interconnector and the LionLink hybrid interconnector, which is still under development, highlighted in the opening remarks. This highlights the strategic importance of our infrastructure and the unique role of the North Sea as a key energy hub.
The discussions focused on how to further unlock the potential of offshore wind and scale up cross-border connections — essential steps in reducing reliance on external energy imports and strengthening energy security.
Overall, it was an inspiring and timely meeting that reaffirmed the importance of cooperation, as well as the pivotal role that TenneT and National Grid Ventures play in driving the energy transition.
