Wind Energy – Installation

The installation of Hornsea 3’s first offshore converter station is complete!

This impressive structure towers 70 metres above sea level – that’s 1.2 times the height of the Leaning Tower of Pisa!

Made up of the jacket, which is piled into the seabed, and the topside, which sits above, the converter station will play a vital role in transforming renewable power from Hornsea 3’s offshore wind turbines, preparing it for the long journey back to shore in the UK.

Offshore construction at this scale requires intensive collaboration, careful planning with tight marine logistics, and demanding schedules.

The installation of this first offshore converter station therefore marks the culmination of a global effort and four years of hard work.
