Wind Energy – Baltica 2
UK-registered Novastar Energy Holdings, a wholly owned subsidiary of UAE-based HEA Energy, has been awarded a vessel contract supporting the construction of the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in Poland.
According to a contract award notice published this month on an EU tender platform, the Baltica 2 joint venture — developed by Polish utility PGE and Danish renewable energy company Ørsted — selected Novastar Energy Holdings/HEA Energy in November 2025 to provide a jack-up vessel for the project. The agreement was formally signed on 20 January 2026.
The jack-up vessel will play a key role during offshore substation (OSS) commissioning activities, delivering accommodation and offshore access for personnel while also supporting crane operations required during installation and commissioning works.
The initial contract period spans 14 months and includes six potential extension options. These consist of two 30-day extensions, two 14-day extensions, and two additional seven-day options, allowing flexibility depending on the project’s progress offshore.
HEA Energy entered the offshore wind installation vessel market in 2023 through the acquisition of three Seajacks jack-up vessels from Eneti. Following the purchase, Seajacks Hydra, Seajacks Leviathan, and Seajacks Kraken were renamed HEA Hydra, HEA Leviathan, and HEA Kraken, respectively.
The Baltica 2 project represents one of Poland’s largest offshore wind developments and forms a central part of the country’s strategy to expand renewable energy capacity in the Baltic Sea.
