Wind Energy – Scotland

The huge MarramWind 3GW floating offshore wind project is the latest site in the ScotWind leasing round to submit a Section 36 planning application to the Scottish Government.

ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) has taken the next step in the development of its flagship floating wind project with its planning application, which was submitted recently.

This is a positive move from SPR given the recent exit of their project partner, Shell, from the project, with both parties agreeing to take one project forward from the two that the partners were delivering jointly i.e. MarramWind and CampionWind.

Shell subsequently handed back the lease for the 2GW CampionWind project to Crown Estate Scotland.

MarramWind takes the number of ScotWind projects that have applied for planning permission to seven with one, West of Orkney, already granted planning permission.
