Fossil Energy – Drilling

Equinor has applied for three drilling permits in the S-M-1378 block, just outside the Pre-Salt polygon in the Santos Basin.

The block was acquired in 2023, during the 4th Concession Cycle of Open Acreage. The Norwegian company also acquired, in the last concession bid round (5th cycle – 2025), the S-M-1617 block, located slightly to the southwest.

This area lies adjacent to Bumerangue, where bp recently announced its largest discovery in 25 years. Notably, S-M-1378 is among the blocks farthest from shore, located approximately 353 km offshore.
