Wind Energy – Taiwan

Ørsted has now installed all 66 turbines at our 920 MW Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms in Taiwan.

This is another milestone in Taiwan’s offshore wind expansion and in Ørsted’s industry-leading 8.1 GW offshore wind construction programme, which comes on top of our +10 GW of installed offshore wind capacity worldwide.

The list of innovative features in this project is impressive:

• First offshore wind farm globally to install 14 MW wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa with 115 metre-long blades.

• First in APAC to deploy piling-free suction bucket jacket foundations at scale, keeping the underwater noise close to background levels during installation.

• Completion of the 66-turbine installation campaign took less than 300 days.

The project has been delivering clean, secure, and affordable electricity to Taiwan’s grid since July 2025, with full commercial operation expected for Q3 2026.
