Wind Energy – The Netherlands
This year, companies will be able to bid on a newly developed 1-gigawatt offshore wind farm in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Climate and Green Growth, Sophie Hermans, also announced that subsidies will be available this time, as the offshore wind sector is currently under pressure.
Partly for this reason, the tender for IJmuiden Ver Gamma-A will initially be smaller than previously planned. According to Hermans, this approach offers the highest likelihood of successful bids.
Offshore wind energy remains very important for the Netherlands. It continues to be an affordable and sustainable local energy source, helping to boost energy security and decrease the country’s reliance on imported fossil fuels.
With this tender, the Netherlands is choosing realism and progress.
