Tuesday, January 13 2026

General – Cable Installation

Oceanteam Cable Solutions has been awarded a contract by the DEME Group to supply, mobilise and operate a complete cable-lay tensioner spread and control system on a rental basis.

This will support the installation of power and fibre-optic cables in the Veerse Meer in Zeeland, the Netherlands, as part of the IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Nederwiek 1 grid connection programme.

Under the contract, Oceanteam will provide a spread comprising multiple track tensioners and bow cable engines, together with hydraulic power and electrical control units, centralised control consoles, data logging, and remote monitoring.

The spread will be mobilised on DEME’s barges for simultaneous lay‑and‑bury operations in the brackish conditions of Veerse Meer, with Oceanteam tensioner operators working 24/7 alongside DEME’s team to ensure safe, efficient execution.
