As demand for renewable energy and data transmission grows, so does the need to protect critical subsea infrastructure.

N.M. Heilig, based in Heerhugowaard, the Netherlands, is developing a Rock Transport System that enables precise rock placement on the seabed, protecting offshore data and power cables.
The installation includes feed hoppers, Apron plate feeders, a diverter chute, weighing and radar systems, support constructions, platforms, and a full electrical setup.
The first sample of the Rock Transport System will be integrated into a newly built subsea rock installation vessel for Jan De Nul, designed to perform rock placement at depths up to several hundred meters with high accuracy and stability.
Readiness for shipment to the manufacturing shipyard is scheduled for 2026.
