Offshore engineering firm TechnipFMC has been awarded a subsea contract for the Chevron-operated Gorgon Stage 3 gas project in Australia, the company announced on Thursday.
While financial details were not fully disclosed, TechnipFMC said the contract is valued between US$75 million and US$250 million, placing it among the company’s medium-sized project awards.
The scope of work includes the deployment of TechnipFMC’s seven-inch Subsea 2.0 horizontal subsea trees, marking the first time this series will be used on a commercial project. The company will also supply flexible jumpers, which are designed to enhance production efficiency and ensure flow assurance in gas operations.
Chevron and its joint venture partners reached a final investment decision on the US$2 billion Gorgon Stage 3 development on 4 December. The project will tie back the Geryon and Eurytion offshore gas fields in the Greater Gorgon Area to existing subsea gathering systems, onshore processing infrastructure, and liquefied natural gas facilities on Barrow Island, located off the coast of Western Australia.
Gorgon Stage 3 is expected to extend the life of the Gorgon LNG project and support long-term gas supply from the region.
