Fossil Energy – Namibia

Shell, in partnership with QatarEnergy and NAMCOR, is preparing to launch a new drilling campaign in Petroleum Exploration Licence 39 (PEL39), offshore Namibia.

The drilling campaign is scheduled to commence in April 2026, marking a key milestone in efforts to responsibly explore Namibia’s offshore potential and support the country’s energy development ambitions.

To execute this campaign, the contract for the Deepsea Mira drilling unit has been awarded.

The rig is operated by Odfjell Drilling and owned by Northern Ocean.

The campaign will focus on operational excellence, safety, environmental performance, and fostering opportunities for local participation.
