Wind Energy – Rock Installation

The installation of scour protection at the locations of the wind turbine foundations at the Hornsea Three offshore site in the UK is set to commence in mid-December.

The work will be carried out by DEME using its rock installation vessel, the Flintstone, which is equipped with a fallpipe system, capable of working at depths up to 2,000 meters. Key features include a Dynamic Positioning (DP2) system, advanced ROV with survey equipment, and environmental protection notations for minimizing its impact on the marine environment.

The vessel is expected to mobilise from Jelsa Quarry in Norway on 13 December, commencing installation on 15 December. The operations are expected to be completed by the end of March 2026.
