Fossil Energy – Guyana
ExxonMobil Guyana has expanded its offshore data acquisition work, with new geotechnical, underwater, and seismic surveys underway across the Stabroek Block.
According to a notice from the Maritime Administration Department, geotechnical surveying operations commenced on November 15 and are scheduled to conclude on December 31, 2025.
The work, being carried out by the vessel OSV BOS Princess, will cover an area of 1,582.27 square nautical miles (5,427 square kilometers), located approximately 82.61 nautical miles (152.18 kilometers) off the Guyana coast.
ExxonMobil began Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) survey operations on August 20, 2025, using the vessel ARMADA 7807. That exercise ended on September 30.
ExxonMobil had contracted Norway-based Shearwater GeoServices to conduct a six-month 4D ocean bottom node (OBN) survey in the Stabroek Block. The survey will capture time-lapse changes in geophysical properties, improving subsurface imaging and enhancing understanding of hydrocarbon reservoirs to support development drilling.
The new award follows a previous 4D seismic contract with PGS, reinforcing ExxonMobil’s commitment to advanced imaging technologies offshore Guyana.
The operator is simultaneously progressing plans for five additional oil developments, expected to raise production capacity to over 1.7 million barrels per day by 2030.
