Fossil Energy – Drilling

Brazilian offshore drilling contractor Foresea has secured contract extensions worth approximately $110 million with Petrobras for two of its ultra-deepwater drillships.

The 2012-built ODN II.

The 2012-built ODN II has had its charter extended through March 2026, with an additional option period until June 2026. Meanwhile, the 2011-built Norbe IX will remain on hire with Petrobras until the end of November 2025.

According to Foresea, the scheduled special periodical surveys for both rigs have been postponed and will take place immediately following the completion of the current contracts.

These maintenance activities are expected to be completed before the start of the rigs’ upcoming three-year agreements with Petrobras.

If operations proceed as planned, the ODN II will commence its 1,095-day contract in August 2026, while the Norbe IX is slated to begin its new term in February 2026.
