Wind Energy – Canada
The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator has recently announced an offshore wind call for information and prequalification, open for 90 days from 16 October 2025 to 13 January 2026.
Pre-qualified companies will later be able to apply to the province’s offshore wind call for bids. The maritime province is seeking about 5GW of offshore wind by 2030.
The regulator is asking for information on the four broader areas being considered and the potential locations of specific sites within them.
This follows Nova Scotia’s designation in July of the offshore wind zones off the east coast of Canada.
The regulator is also seeking feedback on possible evaluation criteria to be used as part of the call for bids, as well as potential draft terms and conditions for a seabed license.
Those invited to respond include Indigenous groups and rights holders, the fishing sector, industry, government, and the public.
