Wind Energy – Taiwan
IOG Wind – formerly CWind Taiwan – has been awarded an operations and maintenance contract for a 1GW Hai Long offshore wind project in Taiwan.
The company will carry out balance of plant operations at the Hai Long site once fully commissioned next year, including substation inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of transition pieces, subsea foundations, and other key structural components.
Tim Kittelhake, CEO and project director of the Hai Long project, said: “As we move toward grid connection and prepare to enter the O&M phase, we are confident that IOG Wind’s strong technical expertise and mature management capabilities will ensure the stable, safe and efficient operation of Hai Long, while also supporting the long-term development of Taiwan’s offshore wind supply chain.”
Subsea cable inspections and onshore substation operations are also scheduled to start soon.
All 73 jacket foundations have so far been installed by the Green Jade at the three-phase site off the Changhua coast in the Taiwan Strait, with some turbines already in place, ready for grid connection.
Each Siemens Gamesa 14-222 DD turbine produces power at 66kV, which is transmitted via inter-array cables to the offshore substation. There, it is stepped up to 220kV before being exported to the onshore substation.
