Fossil Energy – Drilling

Shell has started drilling the Falcao-1 deepwater exploration well on Block 10 offshore São Tomé and Príncipe with Stena Drilling 10,000-ft drillship Stena DrillMAX.

Drilling is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Stena DrillMAX arrived in the area on 11 October 2025. The unit had previously been working offshore Suriname for TotalEnergies from around May to September 2025.

Following the completion of work in São Tomé, Stena DrillMAX is expected to return to Suriname to drill another well for Shell.
