Wind Energy – Lithuania
Lithuania’s National Energy Regulatory Council (NERC) has ruled that the country’s second 700MW offshore wind tender did not take place after receiving only one application by the submission deadline.
Applications for the tender were open from 9 June to 8 September 2025. However, under Article 22(10) of Lithuania’s Law on Renewable Energy, a tender is deemed invalid if fewer than two participants submit bids.
The process was temporarily suspended by government decision before being relaunched on 6 October, with applications accepted until 7 October inclusive. NERC said the tender committee has recommended that the council formally declare the process void at its next meeting.
Responsibility for launching a new tender now rests with the government, NERC added.
Ignitis Group confirmed that it was the sole participant, submitting a bid through its subsidiary UAB Ignitis renewables projektai 5, a company wholly owned by UAB Ignitis renewables.
