Fossil Energy – Discovery

Rhino Resources, in partnership with Azule Energy, NAMCOR NAMIBIA, and Korres Investments, has announced a rich gas-condensate discovery (~40° API) with the Volans-1X well in PEL 85.

Drilled in ~1,200 m of water by the Deepsea Mira, the well reached 4,498 m TVDSS and encountered 26 m of net pay in high-quality Upper Cretaceous reservoirs.

Early samples show a CGR >140 bbl/MMscf, highlighting the liquids-rich nature of the discovery.

The rig demobilised on 14 September 2025 and has since moved to BW Energy’s Kharas-1X well on the nearby Kudu (PL 3) license.
