JERA joins forces with Japanese utilities for Ishikari Bay

JERA has transferred part of its ownership in the Ishikari Bay New Port offshore wind farm in Hokkaido to an investment company established by Hokkaido Electric Power and Tohoku Electric Power.

Following completion of the transfer on 30 September, the 112MW project is now jointly operated by JERA, Green Power Investment, Hokkaido Electric and Tohoku Electric.

Located at Ishikari Bay New Port in Hokkaido, the wind farm consists of 14 8 MW Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy turbines with a total capacity of 112 MW.

The project began commercial operation on January 1, 2024, with all electricity supplied to Hokkaido Electric Power Network, Inc. The facility also features a 180MWh battery storage system.
