Equinor submits new Rosebank emissions statement

Saturday, September 27 2025

Fossil Energy – Rosebank Oilfield

Equinor has submitted an updated emissions assessment for its Rosebank oilfield in the UK North Sea after a Scottish court rejected development consent for the project on emissions grounds in January.

The status of the Rosebank project was changed to ‘under review’ on Friday, following Equinor’s submission of its Scope 3 emissions statement, according to a notice from the UK’s Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment & Decommissioning (OPRED).

On Friday, a spokesperson for Equinor informed Upstream that the company remains fully committed to working closely with all relevant stakeholders to advance the Rosebank project.
