Wind Energy – Thor
Earlier this week Jan de Nul announced that it has installed all 72 monopile foundations on Denmark’s largest wind farm, Thor, within five months.

Thor will have an installed capacity of over one gigawatt, enough to power around one million Danish households with green electricity.
For the crew of the installation vessel Les Alizés, it was the first project where they could utilise the motion-compensated pile gripper. This piece of equipment compensates the motions of a floating vessel, allowing the crew to install the foundations with the highest precision, even in challenging weather.
To protect the around 100 metres long monopile foundations from harsh offshore conditions, reusable hard covers are being installed, which not only reduces waste but also increases circularity.
