VARD launches second Hybrid Power Vessel

Norwegian shipbuilder VARD has officially laid the keel for the second hybrid power ocean energy construction vessel (OECV) for Island Offshore.

This milestone took place at Vard Shipyards Romania in Tulcea, marking a key development in the construction of advanced maritime vessels.

The new vessel, named Island Explorer, follows the first hybrid vessel, Island Evolution, which is also under construction at VARD’s Braila shipyard.

The Island Explorer measures 120 meters in length. And is engineered to perform a variety of subsea operations, including inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR), pipe laying, and the construction and installation of subsea infrastructure.
