Enersea develops method for CO2 transport by ship

Thursday, September 18 2025

General – CO2 Transport

Enersea is developing a novel solution for transporting CO2 to abandoned offshore wells by tanker vessel, addressing key limitations of the conventional approach of transporting CO2 via pipelines.

Challenges often arise in port areas where feeding CO2 into pipeline networks can be complex. Additionally, existing pipeline infrastructure is required to transport CO2 to abandoned offshore fields.

Several parties have already sought Enersea’s expertise in designing advanced offloading facilities for this purpose.

Enersea is conducting this innovative method of CO2 transport for a client and works closely with technology providers on this development. This collaborative approach ensures that cutting-edge technology and methodologies are applied to achieve safe and efficient CO2 transport.

In these projects, Enersea is taking care of the concept development and concept design. Enersea’s scope includes the interface with the vessel, offloading facilities, platform modifications, cost estimates, and technical safety protocols.
