Thursday, September 4 2025

General – Appointment

Joost Hooghiem (42) will be the new director of CO2 Transport and Storage Systems (CTOS) of Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN) as of 1 September.

Within EBN, this is the unit that deals with the development of CCS in the Netherlands.

Since 2022, Hooghiem has held the position of director of Hynetwork, a 100% subsidiary of Gasunie. In that capacity, he was responsible for the roll-out and operation of the public hydrogen network in the Netherlands.

Prior to that, he held various management roles at Gasunie since 2006, including – as Director of Projects – responsibility for the realisation of Gasunie’s project portfolio. He is also Chairman of the Board of Gasunie’s Pension Fund Foundation. Hooghiem studied Industrial Engineering and Management in Groningen.

He succeeds Berte Simons, who started working as COO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority in January.
