General – Interconnector
NKT awarded the power cable connection between Bornholm Energy Island and Zealand in Denmark.
The company has signed a contract with Energinet to deliver the 525 kV high-voltage direct current HVDC power cable system for the offshore interconnector linking the innovative Bornholm Energy Island to the power grid on Zealand.
The project represents a key step for the grid infrastructure in Denmark and Europe.
The contract has a value of around EUR 650m and comprises design, manufacturing, and installation of a power cable system comprising 200 km offshore route and 16.8 km onshore route.
