Wind Energy – West Australia
The federal government of Australia recently announced it had granted two more preliminary feasibility licences for the southern area of the zone after the developers resolved a boundary overlap between their competing projects.

One has been awarded to Bunbury Offshore Wind South, backed by EDF Power Solutions Australia — part of the French government’s EDF Group, which already received a preliminary licence for another project in the northern part of the zone in June.
The other went to Westward Wind, which belongs to Ocean Winds — a joint venture between Spain’s EDP Renewables and France’s ENGIE.
The federal government hailed it as an important next step in building a large-scale offshore wind industry in WA.
It said the three projects collectively had the potential to generate 1,000 ongoing jobs and 4 gigawatts of electricity off Bunbury, 170km south of Perth.
According to the government, another 12 feasibility projects are under development on the East Coast, with more to come.
