TotalEnergies targets 150 million barrel prospect

Fossil Energy – Nigeria

TotalEnergies is gearing up to drill a deep water exploration well in Nigeria.

Targeting a significant-sized prospect the well, if successful, could be developed as a subsea satellite to one of its floating production, storage and offloading vessels.

The French giant is also refining development studies on its large nearby Preowei subsea project, with a boost in reserves expected after analyzing the latest seismic data.

Deep water exploration wells have been a rarity in Nigeria in recent years, so a high-profile supermajor being prepared to risk money on such a venture underscores how the progressive oil and gas policies of President Bola Tinubu are having a positive effect.
