Global Energy Group sells three companies to Mitsui

Thursday, July 31 2025

General – Sale of Companies

Energy sector service group Global Energy Group has agreed the sale of three of its companies – the Port of Nigg, Global Energy (Fabrication), and Global Energy Services – to  long-term partners Mitsui & Co. Europe, and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.

The strategic investment by Mitsui and MOL marks the next phase of development at the Port of Nigg, reinforcing its position as one of the UK’s leading multi-energy ports. Their commitment will lead to expanded manufacturing capacity and quayside infrastructure to meet increasing demand across both traditional and renewable energy sectors. In doing so, they will create high-quality employment opportunities, foster innovation, and promote long-term economic growth across the region.

GEG will continue to offer services at Nigg through Global Port Services, Global Crane Services, and Global Wind Projects, as well as supplying labour and supporting projects across the site and beyond.

GEG will also maintain its operational bases in Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Nigg, and Invergordon, focused on delivering high-quality, people-led solutions that meet the evolving needs of the energy industry.
