General – Nordlicht
DEME has awarded IQIP a contract for the Nordlicht 1 and Nordlicht 2 offshore wind farms – together forming the Nordlicht cluster in the German North Sea.

These projects will see IQIP deploy its leading-edge Hydrohammer IQ6 spread, combined with the innovative PULSE technology.
The Nordlicht cluster is being developed by Vattenfall. Once operational, the wind farms will have a net capacity of more than 1.6 GW, with Nordlicht 1 becoming the largest offshore wind farm project in Germany, significantly contributing to Germany’s renewable energy capacity and Vattenfall’s goal of building a future where everyone can choose fossil free ways to move, make and live.
DEME will execute the installation of 112 monopiles and transition pieces, deploying its state-of-the-art installation vessels to ensure precision and efficiency. DEME also secured the contract for the scour protection at both wind farms.
Bas Nekeman, Business Unit Director DEME North Europe: “We are proud to partner with IQIP on this landmark project for Vattenfall. Their Hydrohammer IQ6, combined with PULSE, enables us to install some of the largest monopiles in the industry with great precision and significantly reduced noise. This collaboration highlights how strong partnerships and cutting-edge technology go hand in hand in driving the energy transition forward.”
Located 85 kilometers north of Borkum, the Nordlicht wind farm area consists of two sites: Nordlicht 1 (approx. 980 MW) and Nordlicht 2 (approx. 630 MW).
