Wind Energy – Malta
Three submissions have been made in a Preliminary Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) for Malta’s first offshore wind farm concession.
“This is an important step forward for the project and a clear signal that the process has truly kicked off. What was once an exploratory initiative has now entered a structured and active phase,” Energy Minister Miriam Dalli commented.
The PQQ was launched in December. The project will see Malta harnessing offshore renewable energy through the development of its first floating wind farm.
The project, which will be awarded via a Competitive Dialogue Process, will involve the design, construction, operation, and eventual decommissioning of a wind farm located beyond Malta’s territorial waters, within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The submissions were the following:
• Code Zero Consortium – led by SEP (Malta) Holding Ltd, with partners Kornelio Energy 1 Limited, M. Demajo (Holdings) Limited, and NMK Renewables Limited.
• Atlas Med Wind – led by GreenIT SpA (Italy), partnered with Seatrans Shipping Ltd, Central European Advisors Limited, and CI V Transfer Coöperatief U.A.
• MCKEDRIK Sole Member Ltd – a sole applicant based in Greece.
