General – Launch WTIV
Earlier this week, DEME marked a significant milestone with the launch of its second next-generation wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV), Norse Energi, at Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore.
Designed by GustoMSC, Norse Energi — like its sister vessel Norse Wind — is purpose-built to meet the growing demand for larger and more efficient offshore wind installations. The vessel is capable of installing turbines with rotor diameters exceeding 300 meters and XXL monopiles weighing up to 3,000 tons, even in water depths of up to 70 meters.
These advanced capabilities position DEME at the forefront of the rapidly expanding offshore wind market, a sector that plays a crucial role in the global energy transition.
The launch ceremony highlighted the strong industrial partnership between CIMC Raffles and DEME, a collaboration based on trust, technical excellence, and a shared focus on safety. From the first steel cutting in January to this week’s launch, the project has consistently prioritized safe operations and quality execution.
The Norse Wind and Norse Energi are scheduled for delivery in Q4 2025 and early 2026 respectively, further strengthening DEME’s fleet of advanced WTIVs.
These cutting-edge vessels, easily identifiable by DEME’s iconic green, will allow the company to access new market opportunities, meet rising industry demands, and promote sustainable economic growth through renewable energy development.
