Successful site-move and load-out substation topside

Saturday, June 28 2025

General – Vietnam

On June 21–22, 2025, at PV Shipyard Port (Vung Tau), Precious Prestige Trading and Logistics One Member Company Limited (PPL) successfully site-move and load-out an offshore substation topside weighing nearly 4,000 tons.

The massive structure, measuring 58m x 39m x 37m (including the launch beams), was manufactured by EPC contractor PV Shipyard.

This marks the first time in Vietnam that the site-move and load-out of an offshore substation topside has been fully executed by a local company, utilizing a self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) system.

More than a milestone for PPL alone, this achievement represents a strategic leap for Vietnam’s heavy-lift logistics sector. It signals the transition from relying on foreign contractors to now being fully capable of independently managing the entire process, including planning, equipment, and execution for transporting ultra-heavy and oversized structures.

Mr. Do Hoang Phuong, Chairman and CEO of PPL, shared: “With Vietnam’s growing demand for infrastructure and energy development, specialized logistics solutions like this are becoming increasingly essential. PPL is ready to support key national projects, contributing to the country’s sustainable growth and enhancing the global competitiveness of Vietnam’s logistics industry.”
