The production of these elements will be carried out in Poland.

The suspended internal platforms will be supplied by Smulders. They will be manufactured in Żary (Lubuskie Voivodship), and their assembly and final retrofitting will occur in Swinoujście.

The additional steel structures for the foundations have an important function.  They allow operational crews access to the wind turbine and the distribution box for technical interventions.

“The contract just signed is good news for Poland’s increasingly dynamic domestic offshore wind energy supply chain. The production of key components necessary for the construction and subsequent safe operation of offshore wind farms will be carried out in the country – in the Lubuskie and Pomeranian Voivodships. Invariably, an important objective of PGE’s investment activities is to successively increase the level of local content in our projects. The use of production facilities in Poland and the experience of the professionals working there is another contribution of Polish industry to this huge investment programme, which is the construction of offshore wind farms in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea,” said Bartosz Fedurek, CEO of PGE Baltica.

“Offshore wind energy is an opportunity for industry development both in Poland and in Europe. We are pleased that the additional steel structures for the foundations for the Baltica 2 project will be manufactured in Poland. Poland is a new market for offshore, and the local content is already around 20%, which confirms the good dynamics of the participation of Polish companies. Based on our global experience in the construction of offshore wind farms on three continents, we see that with every newly built project more opportunities for local players to join offshore journey are created,” said Ulrik Lange, Vice President and Managing Director of the Baltica 2 project at Ørsted.

“The Baltica 2 project marks another important milestone in our long-term commitment to the offshore wind ambitions in Poland, a country in which Smulders has been operating own production facilities for over two decades. With Smulders actively contributing to all three Polish offshore wind farms currently under construction, we are proud to play a central role in shaping the country’s renewable energy future. We are committed to making the project a success in cooperation with Ørsted and PGE,” said Jaap Jansen, Tender Director of Smulders.
