Wind Energy – Monopiles
Sif Netherlands celebrated the official opening of its expanded manufacturing facility in Rotterdam, inaugurated by Dutch Minister of Climate Policy and Green Growth, Sophie Hermans.

The expansion adds 60,000 m² to the existing 40,000 m² facility, transforming the plant from a traditional assembly site into a fully integrated, robotized production line. The enhanced facility is designed to manufacture next-generation monopile foundations with diameters up to 11 meters and lengths up to 120 meters.
With a theoretical annual production capacity of approximately 200 monopiles, the €328 million expansion project was completed on schedule and within budget over a 16-month period. The upgrade has also created employment opportunities for nearly 200 additional personnel.
“Sif stands for reliability and innovation, consistently delivering the highest standards in safety and quality,” said Fred van Beers, CEO of Sif Holding. “This expansion marks a significant step forward in enabling Sif to support the next generation of offshore wind projects. With our strategic location near key European offshore wind developments and around-the-clock accessibility for installation vessels, we are well positioned to optimize project execution for our customers with cutting-edge foundation solutions.”

Initial projects at the expanded facility include the Empire Wind 1 offshore wind farm in the United States and the Ecowende project in the Netherlands. To date, over 30 of the 54 monopiles for Empire Wind 1 have been completed, along with all primary steel for the transition pieces. Production of 52 TP-less monopile foundations for Ecowende is set to commence shortly.
Future projects in the pipeline include the supply of monopiles and transition pieces for the Baltyk 2 & 3 wind farms in Poland and monopiles for the Oranjewind project in the Netherlands.
