Wind Energy – He Dreiht

Cadeler has finished the installation of the first wind turbine at the He Dreiht Offshore Wind Farm in the German North Sea in collaboration with Vestas and EnBW.

This marks the very first time this 15MW turbine is installed at commercial scale!

Over the coming months, Cadeler will support Vestas and EnBW with the transportation and installation of all 64 of these impressive 15MW turbines.

Once completed, the German wind farm of EnBW will have a capacity of 960MW, capable of powering 1.1 million households and making a major contribution to Europe’s green energy supply. The installation work is being carried out by Cadeler’s O-class jack-up wind turbine installation vessel, Wind Orca. Its newly mounted main crane, with a lifting capacity of 1,600 metric tonnes, is ideal when handling turbines of this impressive size.

The wind farm will be located in German waters, 90 kilometres northwest of Borkum and about 110 kilometres west of Helgoland. The Vestas V236-15.0MW offshore turbines have a hub height of 142 metres and a rotor diameter of 236 metres, sweeping an area of 43,742 square metres per revolution – equivalent to the area of six football fields!
