Akrake finds rig for Sèmè project offshore Benin

Fossil Energy – Drilling

Lime Petroleum Holding has contracted the jack up Borr Gerd for a 120-day program offshore Benin.

This is connected to the planned redevelopment of the Sèmè Field, operated by Lime subsidiary Akrake Petroleum Benin.

In December 2023, Akrake secured a production sharing contract and a 76% operated interest in offshore Block 1 containing Sèmè, with the government of Benin holding 15% and Octogone Trading 9%.

Akrake is targeting a redevelopment via a combination of a jackup MOPU and a floating storage unit (FSO), with horizontal wells and modern completion techniques for water management.

The company aims to submit a field development plan to the Ministry of Energy, Water and Mines, and restart production in the field in the second half of this year.
