Wind Energy – Fyrskeppet

Uppsala County Council has recommended that the Swedish government approve the Fyrskeppet offshore wind farm.

The project could help meet the growing demand for green electricity in the Stockholm area.

The 2.8 GW wind farm will be developed 50 km off the Swedish mainland in Uppsala County. With a production capacity of up to 11 TWh – equivalent to 8% of Sweden’s electricity consumption – the project will help meet the growing demand for electricity in Uppsala and the greater Stockholm area.

Niclas Broman, CEO of Skyborn Sweden, said: “This is very good news for us and for the region, which is in great need of new fossil-free electricity.”

Skyborn hopes to build the wind farm east of the Finngrundet shore. The permit application for the project is based on the use of up to 187 wind turbines with a maximum total height of 350 m.

Skyborn has submitted an application to the government for a permit to construct, operate and decommission the wind farm and associated facilities in the Swedish Exclusive Economic Zone in July 2023, as well as an application for a permit to the County Administrative Board.
