Petrogas finished UK  drilling campaign

Fossil Energy – Drilling

Petrogas E&P has finished its UK  drilling campaign, with two wells drilled successfully and safely using the Noble Resilient HDJU.

The campaign started with the spudding of well 47/3f-16 on 12 September 2024, an exploration well targeting the Baker Rotliegends gas prospect.

This well encountered a significant gas column in a high-quality reservoir and was subsequently plugged and abandoned.

The Abbey appraisal well, 47/3i-16(z), was spudded on 13 November 2024 and completed on 16 March 2025.

The well was drilled as a pilot to the planned total depth in the Lower Leman Sandstone, then the sidetrack was drilled with a 1,184m horizontal section in the Lower Leman Sandstone.

After five massive fracs, several well tests were performed, achieving gas rates well above base case estimates. The team is now analysing the well test results to optimise the development concept for these two fields.
