Feasibility licenses for two Australian OWPs

Saturday, March 15 2025

Wind Energy – Australia

The Australian government has awarded feasibility licenses for two offshore wind projects totaling 3.2 GW, located off New South Wales and Victoria.

The Novocastrian Wind Farm (2.1 GW) will span 500 km², situated 22–52 km off the Hunter coast, while the Spinifex Offshore Wind Farm (1.2 GW) will cover 265 km² off Victoria’s southwest coast.

Both projects will feature fixed-bottom and floating foundations, leveraging advanced wind technology.

Once operational, they will power over 1.65 million homes, enhance grid stability, and attract $100 billion in investment, reinforcing Australia’s offshore wind leadership.
