Wind Energy – Saare-Liivi Project
Finnish wind energy service provider Arenso Oy has been selected to provide the basic design for the 1.2-GW Saare-Liivi offshore wind project developed by Utilitas Wind in Estonia.
The two companies have signed a cooperation agreement under which Arenso will prepare a basic design package for future design phases, permitting tasks, construction activities planning and operation.
Work started in February and is expected to be wrapped up by the end of July, a press statement says.
Utilitas Wind is advancing planning and design activities on the project, which will be located 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) off Kihnu island, in the Gulf of Riga. The station will accommodate about 80 turbines during the first stage of development. Once fully operational, it will generate more than 5 TWh of clean electricity.
The Saare-Liivi project, which is co-funded by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, got its environmental impact assessment (EIA) cleared by Estonia’s Consumer Protection and Technical Supervision Agency (TTJA) in early 2023.
